Despite History not being one of my favorite subjects in school, I’ve always appreciated antiquity and all things relic. It’s one of the reasons why I enjoy going to yard sales and thrift stores. My vision of my wedding day depicts me stepping out of a 1955 Rolls Royce, flaunting a pin up girl (Victory Roll) or flapper hair style, flashing my retro engagement ring and strutting into my vintage themed wedding.
I love how intricate and artistic retro rings are, they are so detailed in design.
Women like Lena Horne, Audrey Hepburn, Dorothy Dandridge and Marliyn Monroe to name a few; were the epitome of glamour in those times. It’s something about the women of that era that is so elegant and classy to me. (Notice Lena rocking the Victory Roll style that I like)
I just simply adore retail and fashion from the 20’s through 50’s. Recently I purchased two new lipsticks from MAC’s “Archie’s Girls” collection and I wasn’t surprised I was drawn to it considering it’s based off of the 1939 Archie comic. I decided I’d add Ronnie Red and Betty Bright to my plethora of makeup.
The other day for my visit to Cheekwood Botanical Gardens I decided I’d try out my new cosmetics. Red lips are sexy to me so Ronnie Red was the one I wore first. Of course I paired it with my 1950’s cat eye glasses. All that was missing was my poodle skirt!
